The 2015 Corvette Z06 was teased yesterday, offering a glimpse of the black wheels, yellow paint job, a side splitter, and a side vent located at the front quarter of the Vette. The image was accompanied by an announcement that the upcoming Corvette Z06 will debut at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in January.
Chevrolet, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is designed to be the most track-capable Corvette ever produced. The Z06 will also feature a unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features. On Wednesday, we also suggested that the Z06 may produce even more power than the outgoing 'C6' Corvette ZR1. Today, we not only have pictures that look to be the upcoming Corvette Z06, but also alleged photos of the Z06 powerplant as well!
The engine is a supercharged Gen 5 Small Block V8 and according to GM Authority, the engine is expected to produce as much as 600 hp. While the figure is lower than previously expected, it is no slouch. Unlike the last generation Z06 that ran all-motor, the new 'C7' 2015 Corvette Z06 will be supercharged.
Finally, we bring attention to the Corvette Z06 itself. The images feature similar black wheels, yellow paint job, and side splitter. It also features wider hips and a more aggressive rear spoiler. The Z06 image also suggests larger side vents, a carbon fiber roof, and a black stripe over the hood starting from the heat extractor vents. According to Chevrolet officials, the image is NOT the real thing. GM officials suggested the images were “photoshop job, and not a very good one,” making note of how blurry the wheels are.
