The year 2000 is when torrent websites become popular. Torrent websites such as Piratebay and Kickass torrent are the one who survived until today. Several times this website tried to shut down by the government and other sectors.

Piratebay will celebrate its fourteenth birthday this year. It also remains the top torrent search engine in the world. TorrentFreak called it as "king of torrents."

Unfortunately, one popular torrent website said goodbye this week, the Bitsnoop. It was the year 2008 when Bitsnoop was founded and hailed as one of the fastest growing torrent websites.

"It's been a nice ride, but all things eventually come to an end," Bitsnoop homepage reads. According to Torrentfreak, Bitsnoop handed its content to a torrent search engine called Zooqle.

Lately, torrent websites are facing an unusual competitor. "The world's most popular adult entertainment website, Pornhub had now emerged as a serious player for hosting the latest Hollywood releases," Techworm reported. Despite of that, most of the internet users still prefer torrent websites.
